In the coming radio program scheduled for 15 August, I have attempted to remember about the Indian Independence Day, in the form of music.
“Our Indian constitution starts with “India, that is Bharat”. “India was the name the Greeks used to describe Indians while Bharat or Bharatvarsha, was the name used by the natives”.
“Nationalists like Subhash Chandra Bose, Bhagat Singh, Bagha Jatin, Surya Sen preached armed revolution to achieve self-rule. Poets and writers such as Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, Subramania Bharati, Rabindranath Tagore, Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay and Kazi Nazrul Islam used literature, poetry, and speech as a tool for political awareness towards the Indian Independence”.
The program details of the “Indian Independence Movement” focussed from 1857, with a recollection of several factual episodes, towards Indian Independence. The program consists of a series of activities spanned over 90 years, which I tried to cover.
I hope our listeners appreciate the songs included in this program, some are really a rare collection, of classical music, pertaining to Indian Independence. I am sure this radio program creates a lot of interest, to younger generation, who did not study the history.
Please do sing when the songs are played in the radio program, as most of you have already heard and knew these songs.
Appreciate your feedback, via our Janaranjani email.
