ey Olson, Ed.D. was appointed Fellow and Senior Fellow at the University of North Carolina’s Center for the Advancement of Teaching. She has taught at the University of Houston and Wake Forest before relocating to New York City. She studied music composition, opera and symphonic conducting at the Juilliard School. Shelley has traveled in over thirty countries and was music director at Academia Cotopaxi, Quito, Ecuador and Colegio Aleman, (the German School), Alexander von Humboldt, Mexico City. Her music compositions have been performed in the White House and Kennedy Center, Washington, DC as well as toured by the United States military bands, performed by symphony orchestras and international choruses. The international project for peace which she founded, “Lullabies for Free Children”​ featuring children’s poetry from many continents set to music by international composers, has been featured on the Daniel Pearl Radio network. Her most recent travel book, “The Bronx: The Ultimate Guide to New York City’s Beautiful Borough” has received critical acclaim.
